Cvent OnArrival: Smaller Projects

PROJECT 1: DEVICE NAME

At an onsite event, there can be numerous devices for the planners to keep track of. Each device could be configured for a specific purpose or a specific staff member. They needed a way to distinguish one from another. (Ex: Tablets at the front door as the self check-in kiosks, mobile devices as the session check-in scanner for the onsite workers, etc.) The device name feature allows the planners to give a unique name to each of their own devices. This could have been another screen of text fields, but I added an elegant transition visual and a quick and useful validation functionality to the flow.

PROJECT 2: SESSION FEEDBACK

The biggest question for the onsite planner of any event with many sessions is “how are all my sessions performing?” Session Feedback works with Cvent’s existing “end of session survey” to give them the exact answer to their burning question. It provides all the relevant stats, like the average session rating and the number of responses received. No need for an extra data analyzing tool. All available in a single app of OnArrival. This was one of the most highly anticipated features from both the customers as well as our internal stakeholders.

PROJECT 3: PRINT-ONLY MODE

This mode of OnArrival connects a print server and a badge printer to allow for wireless badge printing. Think of a long queue of badge print requests sent by attendees. This feature takes one of those requests and sends it to a connected badge printer for it to be printed. Planners can now sit back and easily track which print job it’s working on, how it’s progressing, and be notified when there’s an error. This was another opportunity I had to include animation into the experience.

PROJECT 4: BOTTOM NAV

One of the first things I remember commenting on OnArrival app was the lack of intuitive navigation. Even though it’s a crucial need from UX perspective, the idea had been shelved behind other prioritized features. I partnered with a principal level designer to pitch an idea of adding a bottom navigation to OnArrival. Our team has seen the importance of this UX improvement and has added this effort to the roadmap. This is one of the mocks I created after researching, interviewing, and ideating on the most thoughtful, useful, and efficient experience with a new navigation system.

PROJECT 5: ILLUSTRATIONS FOR CARINA DESIGN SYSTEM

Carina is Cvent’s new design system for their web based products. Their illustration team had initiated a visual refresh process, focusing on humanizing the illustrations. I worked with the team to create several illustration assets, based on the visual style and the color palette they had chosen. This was a great opportunity for me to utilize my illustration skill, both to contribute to the global UX team as well as to have fun at work 🙂
